What should you do if the scale doesn't move?

Q. - Quick question , what's the best way to figure out the time it takes to start losing...
w e i g h t?
Sometimes it's hard to understand the inches lost and improved muscle tone and strength that you get from the boot camps, however it takes the body around 8 weeks to show most of the result, as all the physiological changes are happening first. Is there a way you approach this if someone despite the inch decrease and the greater strength, and endurance still has an issue with not losing much w e i g h t from 4 weeks of boot camp?

A. -What does the "magic" number on the scale means to you? (e.g., if you want to be 150, how did you come up with that number). And "do you think it's possible to be perfectly happy with your body and NOT be that exact number or is your ONLY motivation for being doing this bootcamp to reach that number?" It sounds like you need to find what you motivation is---and it has to be intrinsic vs. an extrinsic motivation. I can't motivate that--Ican be a cheerleader for you, but if a number on a scale is the ONLY thing motivating you, you won't be successful. It's needs to be much more specifc. If my goal was to get to 150, how would that keep me from going out for wings and beer with friends on a Friday night? It wouldn't. Just like if my motivation was to decrease my risk for disease--that's great, but it's still not specific and individualized enough. You need to determine a short term goal (wedding, reunion, etc) and some long term goals to continue to strive towards. And what if all their clothes fit, but the scale didn't move--would yoube happy? Hard for you to say no.

Local Fitness Coach Launches Website Providing Free Fitness Information for Delray Beach Residents

Local Fitness Coach Launches Website Providing Free Fitness Information for Delray Beach Residents
The new site, www.DelrayBeachFitnessExpert.com , provides free reports for people looking to lose weight, golf fitness, sports performance, pre and post natal exercise, pre-wedding and more.

Delray Beach, FL, April 10, 2007 --(PR.com)-- The director of Personal Fitness Coaching for the all World Gym's in Palm Beach County, Rafael Moret, launched a new website providing free fitness information for Delray Beach residents. "With all of the advertising and marketing behind dieting and fitness information there is to day, the need for REAL and true fitness information is overwhelming," says Rafael. "The amount of false advertising and misconceptions is creating a lot of confusion in our community."The new site, www.DelrayBeachFitnessExpert.com , provides free reports for people looking to lose weight, golf fitness, sports performance, pre and post natal exercise, pre-wedding and more. Everyone's fitness needs are different, so to provide general information for everyone is unrealistic. That is why they offer so many different categories. A golfer's needs are going to be different than those of a mom who just had a baby."As fitness professionals we have a responsibility to our community. Personal training is not rep counting and it's not providing workouts," says Moret. "It is delivering fitness results and empowering people by educating them." We live in an age where people want instant gratification. The new website does just that. It gives people the information they are looking for now. The time it take to achieve any fitness results will vary, but if you have the information needed to get started right away, there is no excuse for waiting.

The 13 Amazing Health Benefits of Himalayan Crystal Salt

The Hidden Poison Lurking on Your Kitchen TableThe 13 Amazing Health Benefits of Himalayan Crystal Salt, the Purest Salt on Earth(and Why You Want to Avoid Conventional Salt Like the Plague)
Salt is essential for life - you cannot live without it. However, most people simply don't realize that there are enormous differences between the standard, refined table and cooking salt most of you are accustomed to using and healthy natural salt.
These differences can have a major impact on your staying healthy, or increasing your risk of diseases you want to avoid..
If you want your body to function properly, you need holistic salt complete with all-natural elements. Today's common table salt is poison that has nothing in common with natural salt.

Your table salt is actually 97.5% sodium chloride and 2.5% chemicals such as moisture absorbents, and iodine. Dried at over 1,200 degrees Fahrenheit, the excessive heat alters the natural chemical structure of the salt causing the potential for a myriad of health problems in your body.
Containing all of the 84 elements found in your body, the benefits of natural Himalayan Crystal Salt include:
Regulating the water content throughout your body.
Balancing excess acidity from your cells, particularly your brain cells.
Balancing your blood sugar levels and helping to reduce your aging rate.
Assisting in the generation of hydroelectric energy in cells in your body.
Absorption of food particles through your intestinal tract.
Help in clearing mucus plugs and phlegm from your lungs - particularly useful in asthma and cystic fibrosis.
Acts as a strong natural antihistamine and helps clear up congestion in your sinuses
Prevention of muscle cramps.
Making the structure of your bones firm - osteoporosis can occur when your body needs more salt and takes it from your bones.
Regulating your sleep - it is a natural hypnotic.
Maintaining your libido.
Preventing varicose veins and spider veins on your legs and thighs.
Stabilizing irregular heartbeats - in conjunction with water it is actually essential for the regulation of your blood pressure.

Weight Training Diet

So you have started a weight training program, and now you want to start a supportive weight training diet. Just like your weight training program is going to have to change on a regular basis to prevent your body from plateauing, so should your diet. ”The way you look on the outside is just a print out of what’s going on inside your body: says Rafael Moret, creator of My Nutrition House Call.com. The same way you put time and thought into your weight training program, you should put time and thought into your weight training diet. Countless hours in the gym weight training are not going to give you the fitness results you want if you are not giving yourself the adequate nutrition.
How do you know what to eat? Zero carbs, high protein or low fat, no sugar? A lot of calories or not? First you want to realize that everyone is different, and when I say different I don’t mean some people have a faster metabolism then others, remember your are in control of that. I mean we all have different fitness goals. So there is not one meal plan that fits everyone. Some people want weight loss, others want an increase in lean muscle. So for what ever reason you decide to start a weight training program your eating habits, your weight training diet, should support your fitness goals.
Let’s start with the basics. Your body is not concerned with the way you look. It’s only goal is survival. So if you fight it by not providing it with enough energy, calories, during the day it will do what it has to survive. It takes about 3 to 3 ½ hours to digest a meal. So if you have your last meal of the day at 6 or 7 pm and then your next meal is not till 7 or 8 am then you need to see how there is a 12-14 hour gap between meals. That’s why breakfast (breaking the fast) is the most important meal, it gets your metabolism going for the day. The about 3 to 3 ½ hours later it’ time to eat. What happens if you skip a meal? Your metabolism slows down. Then you have lunch and then dinner, do you see how you are the one slowing down your metabolism, the rate at which your body processes food for energy, by skipping meals. You add a weight training program to that and your requirements for calories are higher, so you need to eat more.
What kind of food? A good rule of thumb is to divide your plate into 3 parts. The first part should be a lean protein, chicken, fish or egg whites. The second part should be a starchy carbohydrate, rice, pasts, or bread. The last part should be a fibrous carbohydrate, fruits or vegetables. All in equal amounts. How much? Well, eat until you are not hungry any more, not till you are overly stuffed. It should take 3 to 3 ½ hours to digest, and then repeat. Your weight training diet will contain all of the elements you need with out have to complicate your life.

Here we go again, a few days away from the new year and here come all the health & fitness resolutions…again. “I want to lose weight”, I want to start exercising”, “ I want to join a gym”. Why and how do we keep setting ourselves up to fail? The why is simple, we think magically at 11:59 pm on December 31st our lives are going to change. All of a sudden our procrastination will go away, our eating habits will change and we will adapt a healthier lifestyle just because it’s a new year.

The how is what’s interesting. We set ourselves up to fail by setting goals we really don’t need or want. So what happens when you are trying to accomplish something you really don’t need or want; You are not going to work hard toward getting it. Now what is it that we are really looking for when we set these resolutions? Are we really in the pursuit of fitness or are we in the pursuit of happiness through fitness? “I believe the latter to be true” says Rafael Moret, President of The Miami Fitness Boot Camp.

How does this apply to Health & Fitness related New Year resolutions? Well is the house wife/stay-at-home mom really looking to lose 20 lbs. or does she just want to look sexier and feel better about herself? Will a 20 lbs loss do that for her, maybe…maybe not, but a little muscle tone and better posture will do wonders for her right away. Does the 40-50 year old corporate executive really need washboard abs or does he want to feel like physically, he can still compete with the younger guys and doesn’t need a new set of suits every year because he gained 10 lbs.

When you are setting goals for yourself think about what you really want. What kind of problem are you trying to solve? What kind of solution will bring you joy and happiness? If you are looking to make changes in your life, then you don’t need to wait till December 31st . Do them today, make changes right now! Give yourself a head start and if you are a procrastinator, “put off putting it off”. Forget that the New Year is coming, decide what you want to change and Change Now!
