How many times have you or someone you know said the words, "I can't do that, I'm too busy..."
Contrary to popular belief ... being "busy" is not valuable.
We all know what "I'm too busy" really means. It's our most popular, socially acceptable catch-all excuse for getting out of just about any situation.
And we need to strike the phrase from our vocabulary altogether.
The now-ubiquitous phrase has been labeled our new aspirational status symbol, evidence of a "busy bragging" epidemic, and symptom of our paralyzingly overwhelmed culture. One 2010
study even found that people actually have an aversion to idleness (a strong dislike or disinclination...a state of inaction; inactivity.), finding busyness more comforting.
Whether or not we're actually too busy is up for debate . But it's also pretty irrelevant.
For a certain in America, the air of busyness has become an addiction, a way to justify our existence and assert our societal value, the crutch that allows us to avoid facing the life busyness supposedly keeps us
from living.
Don't get me wrong: Plenty of people are legitimately too busy, whether it's working two to three jobs to make ends meet, or single parenthood, or both. But that's also usually not the people who are
complaining about being too busy.
More often, the people complaining about being too busy use it as a comforting lie to cover up far less self-aggrandizing and socially acceptable problems. If we stopped blaming busyness, we might actually be forced
to confront the real reasons why life can feel so exhaustingly impossible to keep up with sometimes.
Stop saying ‘I’m so busy.’
Harvard researchers say this is what successful people do
instead
Time is the most precious commodity because unlike money, we can’t make more of it.
But guess what? Everyone is busy, so while you might think the message you’re sending with “I’m so busy” is, “I’m really slammed,” what the other person really
hears is, “What I’m working on is more important than you.”
WHICH BRINGS ME TO YOU
When you are to busy to take care of your health or your body...You know, the body that carries you around everywhere, so YOU can keep being busy...that
body
When your busy-ness is the reason you don't eat right or make time to exercise (not for abs or glutes, but the kind of exercise that keeps your body healthy) what
your body feels is that whatever you are working on is more important than....well...YOU
Weird isn't it...How we can disregard ourselves...I've been busy too
Picked up food at the drive thru or what ever I could get..skipped workouts
I get it
I have also been sick...I'll tell you...the work Never matters on the other side...and being to busy is a Story You Tell Yourself
Like my friends Brian and Carrie would say "The Story You Tell is The Truth You Know"
Because we all get the same amount of time, and someone busier than you, doing more than you, with more work and more kids, is still making time to exercise, and
eat right
Just say yes.
Let’s face it: We never really get out of sixth grade. We want to be liked, loved, accepted and have what everyone else has. In other words, we want to stand
out and win. But it’s not always all about us.
I made some notes from my morning reading and share on my IG here
<==
Important Notes from this morning's reading
-
Boiling water will soften a potato but harden an egg
Just because you follow what someone else is doing, doesn't mean you will get the same outcome.
You need your own water...Your own plan
-
Our Genes do not eliminate the need for hard work. They clarify it.
-
Genes can't make you successful if you are Not doing the work
Don't play the comparison game with the person that has the goal or outcome you want if you have not put in the same reps, it's impossible to say if you have been dealt a better or worse hand. Until you work as hard as those you admire, don't explain away their success as luck
I
know this will upset some people, it will make you have to acknowledge the truth, the facts...the math doesn't add up and the story you are tell yourself just isn't true
