Here we go again, a few days away from the new year and here come all the health & fitness resolutions…again. “I want to lose weight”, I want to start exercising”, “ I want to join a gym”. Why and how do we keep setting ourselves up to fail? The why is simple, we think magically at 11:59 pm on December 31st our lives are going to change. All of a sudden our procrastination will go away, our eating habits will change and we will adapt a healthier lifestyle just because it’s a new year.
The how is what’s interesting. We set ourselves up to fail by setting goals we really don’t need or want. So what happens when you are trying to accomplish something you really don’t need or want; You are not going to work hard toward getting it. Now what is it that we are really looking for when we set these resolutions? Are we really in the pursuit of fitness or are we in the pursuit of happiness through fitness? “I believe the latter to be true” says Rafael Moret, President of The Miami Fitness Boot Camp.
How does this apply to Health & Fitness related New Year resolutions? Well is the house wife/stay-at-home mom really looking to lose 20 lbs. or does she just want to look sexier and feel better about herself? Will a 20 lbs loss do that for her, maybe…maybe not, but a little muscle tone and better posture will do wonders for her right away. Does the 40-50 year old corporate executive really need washboard abs or does he want to feel like physically, he can still compete with the younger guys and doesn’t need a new set of suits every year because he gained 10 lbs.
When you are setting goals for yourself think about what you really want. What kind of problem are you trying to solve? What kind of solution will bring you joy and happiness? If you are looking to make changes in your life, then you don’t need to wait till December 31st . Do them today, make changes right now! Give yourself a head start and if you are a procrastinator, “put off putting it off”. Forget that the New Year is coming, decide what you want to change and Change Now!

"The Blunt Truth About Losing Weight"
Here are the cold, hard facts – whether we like them or not. The findings of 47 separate clinical weight loss research studies involving more than 14,700 people boil down to these 12 statements:
1. The reason we are overweight has virtually nothing to do with diet or exercise, and everything to do with our own unconscious motivations – which are created by our own unique beliefs and attitudes.
2. You are, by definition, not aware of your unconscious motivations. But even so, they greatly influence everything you do, and are much more powerful than your unconscious motivations.
3. So everything in your life that's working (and everything that isn't) has its origins in your own unconscious mind. This is not theory. It has been known and accepted for more than 100 years.
4. What does this mean to you in terms of weight loss? It means that no matter how strong your conscious desire to be fit and healthy may be, if this desire isn't supported by your own unconscious beliefs and attitudes, you are destined to struggle and fail.
5. Trying to overpower your own unconscious motivations with your conscious desires is called "will power." Will power is not only ineffective, it's actually counterproductive. Here's why.
6. Trying to overpower your own unconscious motivations with your conscious desires puts you into a battle against your own deepest motivations. It's like declaring war on yourself.
7. And as you may already have discovered, it's a war you can't win. It's like having your own personal Vietnam conflict going on inside you.
8. So if you have a history of struggling and failing at weight loss, you can be sure that you have some beliefs and attitudes that are silently, invisibly, and powerfully sabotaging your success.
9. Unfortunately, as long as your self-sabotaging beliefs and attitudes remain intact and unchanged, there is no way you can achieve lasting weight loss success – or perhaps any success at all.
10. Obviously, since the root cause of your weight problem is not physical, no amount of trying to lose weight through physical means such as diet, exercise, or even surgery will bring you success.
11. Instead, your constant inner war will only create more stress, struggle, and failure until your unconscious and conscious beliefs are both aligned toward success. No other outcome is possible.
12. Bottom Line: If your present self-sabotaging but unconscious beliefs and attitudes remain unchanged, your chances of enjoying real and lasting weight loss success are essentially zero.
We may not like it, but this is the reality we need to know about and deal with. If you've every wondered why your past weight loss efforts failed, or why it all felt like such a struggle, now you know. You can try every diet plan on the planet, count carbs and calories until your eyes are bloodshot, and buy every ab flattener and butt trimmer on the planet. But if you don't do something about fixing your own self-sabotaging beliefs and attitudes, your future will be just endless reruns of your past. I would much rather my clients know the truth – whether they like it or not – because life is simply too short to waste precious time doing things than can't possibly get you where you want to be.Wouldn't your time be much better invested in doing what actually works, even is it means learning a new skill or two?I certainly think so. And you know what? So do my success stories!

Boot Camp Fitness Program Fitness Tip
Good intentions are tough to keep when tempting treats surround you and errands oust your workouts. But with some planning and creativity, you can keep those 5-10lbs from ever coming on. Here's how:
At home: 15 minutes of ACTIVE stretching before you go to sleep can not only help relieve some stress and help you sleep better, it can also burn some excess calories (about 60-100, that’s 420-700 calories burned just through some active stretching at the end of the week) right before bed time and keep your metabolism going while you sleep (bet you didn’t know you still burn calories while you are sleeping)
At work: Busy this time of year and no time for the gym. Walk up the stairs, skip the elevator or maybe even just a few floors if it’s long flight. When you go to lunch walk somewhere and back. A 15-20 minute walk at lunch time can add up to an hour and 15 minutes – to almost 2 hours of walk time for the week (if you went to the gym 3x per week and walked for 30 minutes you would only get 1 ½ hours of walking). Keep a bottle of water on your desk and keep drinking. At the mall: Whether you will be in the mall for a long period of time shopping or It’s just a quick trip, Park in the furthest spot you can find (as long as it’s not raining) it will save you time looking for parking and the extra 5 minutes walking in and the extra 5 minutes waling out plus the time you spend walking in the mall, whether it’s 15 minutes or 2 hours, will surely boost your metabolic rate and help you burn some extra calories.
At a party: If you are planning on attending one or several Holiday parties, the food always has a lot to say. It tends to be higher in calories and there are a lot of treats. It’s a time to indulge, but here is a quick tip to save some calories: Drink water with your food, it will save you literally thousands of calories. The sodas, wines, punches and other beverages are packed with calories, and added to the food can be a calorie disaster.
